2005
Due to financial difficulties we could not organize social programs for former POWs and the families of missing persons. Our lawyers, psychologists and teachers nevertheless continued to work for us on a smaller scale as volunteers.
Journeys to the Region:
1. On March 18th, 2005, we organized a meeting of the
Armenian and Azerbaijanian state commission on missing persons in Tbilisi/Georgia.
This was the first direct meeting of the state
commissions.
2. Journey to Armenia and the
region of Nagorno-Karabakh, October 28th, - November 3rd, 2005
February – May 2005: Our group was in touch with the Armenian authorities, in order to have the Azerbaijanian POWs RB, AC and CT released. They were POWs on the Armenian side from February 15th – May 7th, 2005.
Having been released the POWs were sentenced in Azerbaijan for treason. They are charged with having cooperated with the Armenian enemy, while being POWs. On October 7th they were sentenced to 10 years and more.
In a letter to the President of Azerbaijan our group asked for leniency.
Tracing missing persons
In 2005 we continued ouir tracing work, cooperating with the relatives of missing persons and the state commissions.
